On the left is some updates for Unit 4. This unit has put on significant height over summer. The range is wide, some replanted spots are at 1m, with the majority well over 2m and the dominant trees are reaching close to 4m.

On the right is Unit 3. There is video showing a few rows now planted, apologies for the haziness in some videos. Most rows are looking good with limited losses. I have included an example fo a section of one row where you can see the first 10 trees all failed.

Overall. Unit 3 planting was the most challenging planting period of any previous planting window on the site. A combination of large thrirsty trees going into very dry ground with moisture sapping heat and wind.

Recent rains have made a large difference and much of the unit is now establishing in the soils. We do need follow up rain in march or we’ll be watering these trees.

The spray treatment is good, but some rows were not sprayed fully and need to be revisited before moving forward into unit 1. This involves slashing each side of the rows and running a hooded sprayer down the gutters of the mounds to widen the treated area. You can see in some images the spray is wide enough and lots of space for the trees. Unfortunately in some rows it’s half that width and has to be fixed up. Weed treatment and control of the area around the rows is critical to the success of the project. We need to make sure grass and weed treatment is monitored regularly.
